J.W.S. Getty

J.W.S. Getty has an Honours Degree in English and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and a Diploma in Theatre Arts—Acting from Toronto Metropolitan University. He has been working as an artist for over thirty years.

As an actor, Jerry Getty has appeared in theatres across Canada, including the Stratford Festival, Magnus Theatre, The Grand Theatre, Persephone Theatre and Watermark Theatre, amongst others. Some of his favourite roles include Paul, Jack and George in The Lady and the Clarinet, Hotspur in Henry the IV, Part I, Leontes in The Winter’s Tale, Little Big Man and the Comics in A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline and Mr. Praed in Mrs. Warren’s Profession.

He is the only actor other than Rick Miller ever to perform the one-man show MacHomer, playing over 50 characters in the Simpson’s version of Macbeth.

He has directed and acted as a dramaturge on a number of plays for the Summer Works Festival in Toronto, and wrote and performed the one-man show Brian and the Bard.

Jerry has also appeared in several TV shows and Films, such as Mayday, Murdoch Mysteries, Rookie Blue, Spynet, Faces in the Crowd, Hannibal, Mr. Music and many others. He wrote the one-act play that he hopes to turn into an animated musical, The Mystery of Christmas Magic. Cleopatra’s Tomb and the Regit Tigers of Egypt is his first novel.

J.W.S. Getty lives in Toronto with his wife Cindy and their four pet snakes. He hopes to be a Parselmouth someday.
