When I wrote Cleopatra’s Tomb and the Regit Tigers of Egypt, I always hoped that I could have the book launch at Curiosa, and last Saturday, April 1st, that wish came true.
Have you ever been to Curiosa? It’s a little shop in the heart of Toronto, that oozes mystery and magic the second you walk in the door, as they specialize in selling Extraordinary Things.
There are stores that sell Harry Potter gear, and other souvenir type things; but Curiosa is much different; when you walk into Curiosa you feel like you’ve walked into a store in Diagon Alley, it doesn’t feel like a tourist stop, it feels like another dimension.
There were 20 of us milling about. I made a little speech about how the book came to be, and then read the first chapter. Naturally, some of Bill’s baked treats made it to the occasion, chocolate chip cookies and Nanaimo bars were to be had.
We sold some copies of the book and I signed them for any who asked. It was a fantastic night and the only way it could be topped would be to do it again … which we will, this Saturday, April 8th, there will be a second book launch, once again, at Curiosa.
